Book Week @ RCHK, 3rd - 7th March
Book Week is all about reading. We celebrate this event each year to highlight the importance of reading and the joy of stories. We celebrate the creativity of great books and stories as we encourage reading for pleasure and learning. We share favourite and popular authors and illustrators.
What about the Theme - Read Across the Universe?
The 2014 Book Week theme invites students to 'Read Across the Universe'. They will need to take a fictitious journey in an imaginary spaceship as it is still not possible to travel further than the moon.
The word 'Universe' comes from the Latin unus, meaning 'one' and versus meaning 'to turn' and can be defined as all that exists, in other words all the planets, stars, moons, and galaxies, matter and energy, intergalactic space and voids. We like to consider the Library as a Universe of books and when we attempt to read across the universe, we are being challenged to read widely and prolifically across the many genres and categories that include our print and electronic collections.
